While the Building Business Capability (BBC) conference may have ended, the buzz it generated among attendees certainly hasn’t. That’s because there were loads of great sessions, engaging speakers, and exciting developments to keep everyone talking long after it wrapped up.

This year's conference, known for its excellence in business analysis, surpassed our already high expectations. Here are four reasons why BBC 2024 was an event to remember.

1. Energy and Enthusiasm

The conference's scale continues to expand year after year. BBC 2024 drew attendees from 21 countries and 42 US states, showcasing its global reach and relevance. Plus, over 600 attendees took part in the event, marking a significant increase from last year.

This year’s agenda boasted a lineup of over 65 speakers, each of whom delivered high-quality content that resonated deeply with the diverse audience. The bustling atmosphere at the conference reflected everyone's enthusiasm and engagement with the latest insights and best practices in business analysis capability.

Continuing the tradition, this year's event produced another memorable moment. You might recall the Business Analysis Boogie from 2023. Well, this year we asked: "Do you need analysis for a dance?" The resounding answer was yes.

Grant Wright, Paddy Dhanda, and friends brought energy to the IIBA booth with a traditional bhangra dance, infused with an Analysis Everywhere twist. Check it out for yourself:

2. Futureproof Book Launch and Signing

One of the most anticipated highlights of the conference was the launch of Futureproof: Amplifying Agility with AI and Insightful Business Analysis. At the book launch, authors Angela Wick and Tim Coventry signed copies in person, much to the delight of interested buyers.

3. AI Playtime

Artificial intelligence (AI) emerged as a central theme at the BBC conference, reflecting its growing influence on business analysis (and pretty much everything else). Led by Danelkis Serra, Fabricio Laguna, Vincent Mirabelli, Curtis Zhao, and Vanessa Lam, the AI Playtime session gave attendees the chance to explore the latest AI tools, techniques, and applications through interactive workshops and demonstrations.

From predictive analytics to natural language processing, AI-powered solutions showcased the potential to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and drive competitive advantage. The interactive session provided attendees with hands-on experience and practical insights into harnessing the power of AI to solve complex business challenges.

4. Strong Sense of Community

The conference concluded with a vibrant member reception, where IIBA members had the chance to unwind, network, and celebrate the successes of the event. This gathering provided a relaxed atmosphere for participants to connect with colleagues, share insights, and forge new partnerships.

As glasses clinked and conversations flowed, the sense of camaraderie and community spirit was palpable, underscoring the value of the in-person events as a catalyst for professional growth and collaboration.
