Since our launch in 2014, our mission at monday.com has been to make work easier, simpler, faster, and more intuitive.

That mission doesn’t just apply to the over 152k+ customers we’re proud to work with. It also applies to our own culture and way of life at monday.com. We put a lot of focus on developing the kind of workplace where employees can do their best work and enjoy their time at the office (even if it’s their home office).

We’re thrilled and honored to be recognized on this front and named by Inc as one a Best Workplace for 2022, a Fast Company World Changing Ideas finalist for our work in Eswatini, and one of Fortune’s 2022 Best Workplaces NYC . On top of that, we were certified by Great Place to Work as, well, a great place to work.

Last year, we were named in Crain’s 2021 Best Places to Work New York and received Built In’s 2021 Moxie Award. And, as we announced a year ago last June, 2021 is the year monday.com became a publicly-traded company, in large part thanks to our incredible employees who helped make it all possible.

These awards are so much more than just feathers in our cap — they’re a true reflection of how monday.com operates behind the scenes and how our employees really feel working here.

Building an award-winning culture at monday.com

Creating a workplace where 95% of the employees say it’s a “great place to work” doesn’t happen overnight. It’s cultivated through awareness and intentional choices that ensure employees have the support, resources, and opportunities they need to soar.

We’re huge proponents of the idea that the customer experience is a direct reflection of the employee experience. In other words, happy employees equal happy customers. You can’t produce a great product and deliver superior service without prioritizing your team and ensuring that they feel supported and valued in their roles, every step of the way.

Here are just a few of the ways we create a workplace that people look forward to coming to.

Creating connections so people feel like they belong

We know that great things happen when you bring the right people together and let them develop an authentic rapport and camaraderie. That’s why, right from the very beginning, one of the major priorities was creating a culture that employees can feel connected to, whether they work in-person or remotely. That effort seems to have paid off, as the vast majority of our employees (99%) say that “people care about each other” at monday.com.

Here’s what Bruno Santos, Channel Partner Manager, had to say about feeling connected at monday.com:

“As the first employee based in Brazil, initially I was concerned about how connected I’d be to my peers on a daily basis. But I can sincerely say that I’ve been here for just over a year and still get impressed by how collaborative, fun, and transparent monday.com is. I work with peers all over the world and I’m able to accomplish great things at record speed!”

Fostering productive collaborations that allow everyone to excel

As providers of a leading Work OS, our product is one that never stops changing and growing — and neither do our employees. Collaboration is the not-so-secret ingredient that allows us to keep the innovation coming. Our teams have the tools and time to brainstorm and bounce ideas off of each other and, most important of all, to support each other when it’s time to go the extra mile. This may be why 99% of monday.com employees say that “people here are willing to give extra to get the job done”.

“People at monday.com are always willing to help. We have the same goals we want to keep improving ourselves and the product, and we are always happy to do it together and help each other.”

– Dana Morganstern, Product Analyst

Empowering our employees to be autonomous and agile

It goes without saying that bureaucracy is at odds with imagination and innovation. It also slows things down to a crawl. Since we wanted to create a workplace that prioritized rapid execution, we knew that excessive rubber stamping and unnecessary middlemen had no place at monday.com.

Instead, we focused on building a deep sense of trust with our employees, so that they can move quickly and without being hampered by endless layers of management and without the fear of being penalized for taking a wrong turn or hitting a stumbling block. The result is that 99% of our employees say that “management recognizes honest mistakes as part of doing business.”

“If there’s a chance it can have a positive benefit on our clients, we’re allowed to try it, period. With that type of safety net, it’s no wonder that being creative and having fun are some of the most rewarded behaviors in our company.”

-Jasmine Hendricks, Implementation Consultant

What’s more, each employee has ownership over their role and can see their impact directly through the company data, empowering them to come up with their own ideas and run with them as well as the ability to course-correct along the way.

Ruchita De, Mid-Market Customer Success Manager, explains how access to data empowers employees to do their best work:

“monday.com has an affinity for data and uses it to substantiate statements like ‘things are going well’ or ‘things could be better.’ You never feel like you’re left in the dark on important matters and it builds trust between employees and on the executive level.”
